Backstage news on originally planned matches for TLC

The TLC PPV saw some exciting matches but reports reveal that there were some more bouts that were planned for the event but were moved out of the card later on.

According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer, the company had planned a match between Braun Strowman and Shinsuke Nakamura for the show but it was nixed due to Strowman’s injury.

The original lineup for TLC also included a bout between The SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley and Lacey Evans but the officials decided that it was “too early” for this match so they held it off for Royal Rumble.

Finally, the Universal Champion Bray Wyatt was expected to face Daniel Bryan in a Survivor Series rematch at the show but as we noted before, Bryan has been hands-on with this storyline.

He and the officials wanted to prolong the story between Wyatt and the former NXT star and this is why they decided to change The Fiend’s opponent to The Miz. Their rematch is now expected to take place at the upcoming Royal Rumble PPV.
