Backstage news on the recruitment of Tyson Fury for WWE Crown Jewel

WWE roped in Tyson Fury for a bout against Braun Strowman at the upcoming Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia. The boxer is expected to have earned a huge amount of money for this appearance. Saudi Arabia and WWE reached a long-term deal which also boosted the company in terms of their finance.

According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammad bin Salman reportedly vouched for Fury. Although it’s not known whether the prince paid WWE extra money to bring in Fury to the kingdom, it’s for certain that the prince’s desire played a part.

After last week’s press conference where the match was made official, it was revealed that Fury had approached WWE a few years back but for some unknown reason, they couldn’t strike a deal.

The Boxer’s bout with Strowman is expected to be a one-off bout. Fury, who boasts an unbeaten boxing record fights Deontay Wilder next in a rematch from their 2018 December bout which ended in a draw.

WWE Crown Jewel is slated to take place on October 31 from the  King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
