We noted before how WWE was interested in signing former UFC Star Cain Velasquez and one of their goals to sign former MMA Star was a potential match with Brock Lesnar.
In an update, Dave Meltzer revealed on Wrestling Observer Radio that the segment on this week’s Raw where Brock Lesnar decimated Rey Mysterio and his son was designed while keeping this match in mind.
The idea behind the segment was that Brock Lesnar destroyed a Mexican hero and Velasquez who is also from the country and very popular in the region could come to WWE to take revenge. Velasquez has previously defeated Brock for the UFC Heavyweight Title back in 2010.
Though as we noted before, while there have been a lot of talks of the former UFC Star signing with WWE, so far the two parties have not reached any agreement and Cain Velasquez has also been talking to other companies, including AEW.
While WWE will definitely push to sign him to the promotion, signing with AEW will allow Cain to continue working for AAA where he made his pro wrestling debut earlier this year so it would be interesting to see which option he ultimately chooses.
