Backstage news on who assembled the new Raw commentary team

WWE confirmed a major shakeup to the announce team yesterday when they announced that they are changing both Raw and SmackDown’s commentary teams.

The company confirmed that Michael Cole will be moving to SmackDown Live and he will be joined by Corey Graves and Renee Young on the show.

However even more surprising was the announcement of Raw’s new commentary team which included 205 Live commentators Vic Joseph and Dio Maddin alongside Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler.

Dave Meltzer talked about these changes in the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Newsletter and revealed that both Joseph and Maddin are Paul Heyman’s pick for Raw:

“Maddin had just been added to 205 Live to work with Joseph the last few weeks. Maddin was an out of the box pick by Paul Heyman. Joseph, who has done a good job with 205 Live, was also a Heyman pick to give the show a new look”

Meltzer also confirmed an earlier report saying that Jerry Lawler’s position on the Red Branded Show is only temporary and WWE is considering other options to fill the position full time.

Well, he IS the boss, sooo…

  • oppa

It doesn’t matter since the internet will still blame Vince if this doesn’t work out.

  • Dirt McGirt

Get rid of Renee! She adds NOTHING on commentary. As for Lawler, he is a worthless old racist who never drew a dime outside Memphis. Fire him, NOW!
