Backstage news on why Rey Mysterio hasn’t signed a WWE contract yet

We noted before how Rey Mysterio’s return at the Royal Rumble PPV was a one-off appearance and so far he hasn’t signed a contract with the company.

Considering the fact that Rey received one of the biggest pops of the night, these reports made many people wonder what’s preventing the company from signing him.

According to Wrestling Observer, Mysterio wants to work a reduced schedule but WWE Officials want to sign him full time and this is the main reason why they haven’t reached an agreement.

Though on a positive note, Pwinsider reports that the loud pop the former Champion received at Rumble is helping in chances of WWE bringing him back to work more dates.

As we noted before, Impact Wrestling is also interested in signing the former World Champion and at a point, there were rumors of Mysterio making his debut for the company at the recently concluded Impact tapings, so there is still a chance of him signing with the company formerly known as TNA.

As of this writing, Rey Mysterio hasn’t signed a contract with either of the promotions and since his Lucha Underground contract has already expired he is free to go to whichever company he chooses.
