Backstage news on Shane McMahon’s role at Survivor Series

As seen during last week’s episode of SmackDown Live, Randy Orton defeated Sami Zayn to earn a spot at the Male SmackDown team for the Survivor Series PPV.

After this, several sites reported that Orton is going to be the captain of the team but so far WWE hadn’t made any official announcement on it and it appears that the reason behind it is that Randy is not really penned for the role.

According to Pwinsider, Shane McMahon is expected to wrestle at the upcoming Non-Exclusive PPV and the commissioner of the Blue Brand is expected to be the captain of his team.

It’s worth mentioning here that Stephanie McMahon returned to WWE Programming during the latest episode of Monday Night Raw and announced that Kurt Angle would be the captain of Team Raw.

Since Daniel Bryan is not very likely to be cleared by WWE doctors for an in-ring return anytime soon, Shane McMahon appears to be the most logical choice to be Angle’s counterpart.
