Backstage update on Shane McMahon’s WWE World Cup win

The first ever WWE World Cup ended in a bizarre fashion after SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon replaced The Miz to defeat Dolph Ziggler and win the tournament in the process.

Dave Meltzer mentioned the plan going forward with McMahon by saying:

“The idea is that Shane is going heel, Miz wasn’t hurt. This was all booked to be exactly what it is – the beginning of a Shane McMahon heel turn.”

“When this tournament was first put together, this was always the finish. It was always going to be the finish that Shane was going to turn heel when this thing ends.”

As it turns out, The Miz was not hurt as initially speculated. It was apparently the plan all along by the WWE Creative as they head towards a potential heel turn for Shane McMahon, who will be calling himself as “The Best In The World” going forward.

This will probably play a huge role in the build-up to the Raw vs. SmackDown storyline for the upcoming Survivor Series.

I call B.S.. The only reason why Shane got the Cup was because it was Saudi Arabia. It was all extreme politics. Even the women weren’t allowed to wrestle… it was for pure posturing and stature. A huge waste of time. A huge time killer. Either way, nothing says “the show must go on” aside from an actual Mayor (S.F. Commando’s Soldier) being killed in Afghanistan, after the fact.

This was a simple gimmick tournament p.p.v.. Most of us know this. The Saudi government has v

I just hope this doesn’t end up as convoluted as when Shane was a face, but was bullying Owens and Zayn, two heels, and then face Bryan was helping the two heels, but was still face.

Shane didn’t seem to be heel in the way the match ended though hmm

I don’t believe this for a second. This may have been the plan ever since Cena pulled out, but I refuse to believe that the plan from day one was to build this big tournament, with John Cena in it, and the finish was going to be Shane wins. So let’s say Cena had done the show, I could see him beating Ziggler clean, but you can’t put him against Angle, that’s too big of a match for this show, unless you have Corbin cost Angle that match, but Corbin vs Angle doesn’t seem to be in the works. Cena vs Rollins? Okay, Cena can win if Ambrose comes out to cost Rollins the match, but again, this is a nothing show, you can’t have clean finish if this is one of the match ups. One way or the other, Cena makes it to the finals. Then what? He loses to Shane? Are you kidding me? Even if you have a screw job finish to have Shane win, that means Cena has to stick around to get revenge, and Cena isn’t sticking around. And this is coming from someone who is not a Cena fan, not even a little.

Shane as a heel is awful. We already have Stephanie and Corbin as heels, so unless they are planning to bring Kurt back before Survivor series (which they may do if Stephanie blames Corbin for Shane entering himself in the match), Paige is going to be the only face authority figure.

What also makes it bad, as we have seen on RAW with both Angle and Foley, the heel commissioner and face GM is just such a horrible dynamic with the GM always been made to look like they are totally emasculated.
