Backstage updates on Vince McMahon’s recent frustrations with declining Raw ratings

WWE made some major behind the scene changes to its creative team yesterday when they announced that they are merging the writing teams for both Raw and SmackDown.

The company confirmed that Paul Heyman will no longer be in charge of Raw as the Executive Director and Bruce Prichard will lead the creative for both of WWE’s premier shows.

In an update, Pwinsider provides some updates on Vince McMahon’s mindset behind the decision and the site noted that he has been very upset with the status of Raw:

“The decision, obviously, was a Vince McMahon call. One source noted that Vince McMahon had been “very upset” and openly “frustrated” with Monday Night Raw of late.   That series has taken the hardest hit in terms of viewership during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

It’s worth mentioning here that while all the wrestling programs have seen a decline in viewership due to the coronavirus pandemic, Raw has lost over 20% audience in the year over year comparison.
