Becky Lynch believes bringing out the best in her opponents was her downfall on SmackDown

Becky Lynch is a two-time, and current, WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion. The Lass Kicker has had a pretty successful run on the Blue Brand, although for a while there she seemed to take a backseat to other talents.

Lynch was the inaugural champion in 2016, but after losing the championship to Alexa Bliss, she spent most of the next two years wading in the water while Bliss, Charlotte Flair, and Carmella rose to the top of the roster.

While on Chasing Glory with Lilian Garcia, Lynch said she believes her knack for making others look good is what drew her away from the title scene for such a long time.

I was on SmackDown and had left the other three (Four Horsewomen). They were all on RAW. I was all on my own on SmackDown and I wanted to make sure that SmackDown was the show to watch. I wanted to make sure that the women’s division was the division people wanted to watch the most.

Maybe that was the thing. Maybe I wanted to work together with people too much to really make it a communal effort where it was like, ‘Okay, we’re really going to do this and make this a thing.’

There were a lot of tremendous talent there like Nikki Bella, Naomi, and Nattie Neidhart and everything like that where they are respected and loved. I wanted everybody to be part of it so with that maybe it’s a Catholic guilt thing where you think, ‘Oh, I want you to have it as well. Don’t think that I’m better than you.’ Just weird stuff like that would go through my head.

Does Becky Lynch have a point? It wouldn’t be the first time that something similar happened. Many people look to Dolph Ziggler in a similar fashion, believing he always managed to make people look good but never really getting the recognition from the company he deserved.

What are your thoughts on the champion’s statements? Who else do you think fits this situation, past or present? Let us know in the comments below!
