Becky Lynch: WWE Evolution can be held again without Ronda Rousey

WWE Evolution was an all-women’s pay-per-view event that was held last October. The headliner of the show was Ronda Rousey, who defended the Raw Women’s Championship against Nikki Bella.

The show was met with a positive response and as of now WWE has not really said if we are in for a second all-women’s event in the future.

Reports earlier had indicated that WWE are hesitant to hold another Evolution event without someone like Rousey, but there’s someone who thinks they can take her place.

Becky Lynch, while speaking to talkSPORT, said that there is no reason for WWE not to run Evolution with the current female roster.

“Oh, absolutely! First and foremost, it was one of the best pay-per-views of the year. And that’s not me being biased, that’s a fact. It had Match of the Year on it, including yours truly.
Absolutely, I don’t see any reason why not. I think we have a strong enough women’s division [without Rousey], as long as they tell the stories around us and let us go. And… that’s all I’ll say.”

Lynch defended the SmackDown Women’s Championship against Charlotte Flair in a Last Woman Standing match at Evolution. The event took place on October 28, 2018, at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, in Uniondale, New York.

No matter what WWE thinks, Rousey and Bella did not sell the show. It may have brought in a few interested parties, but Rousey was nowhere near the draw some people make her out to be. UFC fans are not gonna suddenly get over their “wrestling is fake, MMA is real” mentality and just suddenly start watching because of her, and her movie career is hardly a blockbuster.

The biggest problem with doing another Evolution PPV is WWE has failed to build too many female wrestlers into strong positions.
Becky is the biggest name right now, and Charlotte is a big name (although many fans are sick of her), but beyond those two the only other names even worth anything in the female division right now are Bliss and Bayley to a lesser extent (and considering she is champion, that says a lot about the division).
Look at the womens tag champs. Who even remembers those belts exist most of the time?

Actually, no you can’t because Ronda sold the show for them! Becky is fine until she opens her mouth.

Obviously, they can still hold the PPV. The problem is that the only women in a position to headline it are Becky and Charlotte (who no one really wants to see square off again) and a returning Sasha Banks.
