Jennifer Lopez turned heads at the Met Gala last night with her stunning presence, but one conspicuous absence stood out to many attendees and fans: her husband, Ben Affleck, who was not at the event.
Lopez dazzled on the red carpet in a custom Schiaparelli gown with intricate butterfly wings. Although her gown captured plenty of attention, Affleck’s absence did not go unnoticed. A representative for Affleck told ET that the actor could not attend the Met Gala because he was busy filming The Accountant 2 in Los Angeles.
Lopez attended the star-studded Met Gala in New York City, where she was one of four celebrity co-chairs alongside Zendaya, Chris Hemsworth, and Bad Bunny. The butterfly-wing-inspired dress she wore featured an astonishing 2.5 million beads and required 800 hours to complete. Lopez complemented her look with diamond accessories, a metallic clutch, platform heels, a high bun, and bronzed, glowing makeup.
This year marked the second time Lopez attended the Met Gala since rekindling her romance with Affleck in 2021. However, the couple didn’t walk the red carpet together this year. Despite their marriage in July 2022, Affleck and Lopez have yet to make their official Met Gala debut as a couple. During the early 2000s, when they were first dating, they never attended the event together.
Nonetheless, the couple has supported each other in their respective careers this year. In a recent exclusive interview with ET, Jennifer Lopez credited her husband for motivating her to create more music and undertake new projects. The This Is Me… Now: A Love Story star revealed that her rekindled relationship with Affleck was a driving force behind her renewed inspiration for making music. The project she discussed with ET was filmed for Prime Video and coincided with her ninth studio album, This Is Me… Now, which was released on the same day.
