Bill Maher and pro boxing legend Mike Tyson recently had a disagreement in a recent podcast episode of Hotboxin’. The recently released episode saw the HBO host and former boxer clashing in a political spat.
Billl Maher calls Mike Tyson as ‘conspiracy theorist’
Just halfway into the podcast episode, Maher grew seemingly uncomfortable in being cut off by the host, even having to ask to answer a question Tyson had put to him.
The conversation heated up quite quickly and only grew more tedious for the two as the minutes went by after Maher disputed Mike Tyson’s claim that black people in the United States were being murdered at a higher rate to previous years.
The HBO host went on to tell Tyson’s co-host he shouldn’t be more afraid of police brutality than he would have been ten years ago.
Tyson again provided a rebuttal, arguing that police murder statistics do not truly reflect the nationwide issue at hand. Maher was quick to jump in, adding: “Cops also kill white people. That just never becomes a video”.
“It’s not something people are as interested in,” the comedian added.
However, the two did agree that police officers do not kill as many white people as they do black people in the United States.
The former boxer then pressed Maher for context to statistics the HBO host was providing on annual murder in the country, asking: “Who’s numbers?” Maher responded, “Oh, so you’re saying the FBI is cooking the numbers?”
Tyson provided an alternate perspective, asking Maher if all data given should be taken for granted. The host quickly replied, “We have to have some way of objectively measuring things, other than going by – my feeling is…”
Both Maher and Tyson continued to disagree, however, that police murders on black people are “worse than ever”.
