WWE Champion Bobby Lashley could be squaring off against Goldberg at the upcoming SummerSlam pay-per-view. The former WWE and WCW writer Vince Russo recently opened up on the possible match and reckoned that Goldberg should not challenge Lashley for the WWE Championship. Vince Russo says Bobby Lashley would beat Goldberg
Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp had recently reported that the match would take place at WWE SummerSlam on August 21. Russo talked about the WCW star on Sportskeeda Wrestling’s Writing With Russo series with Dr. Chris Featherstone.
On the latest episode, Russo lauded the former WWE Universal Champion for staying in great shape at 54 years of age. He also explained why he is not buying the idea Goldberg losing another high-profile match.
Here is what he had to say:
“I’ve gotta give this guy credit, man. He does keep himself in excellent shape. Every time he comes back, when he cuts those promos, he’s got the fire. He didn’t lose any of that. But, like you said, Chris, if this guy is gonna be our guest jobber [loser] every six months, that’s not Goldberg’s fault, but you’ve turned it into a situation where, ‘Okay, bro, Lashley beats Goldberg, yawn, yawn, yawn, who’s next?’”
Goldberg’s current WWE deal will see him compete in two matches per year. He suffered a loss in the first match to then-WWE Champion Drew McIntyre at the Royal Rumble. The second match could be taking place at SummerSlam.
