WWE stars Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn are two of the top talents in the company who are both running out of their contracts. It is understood that their deals are set to expire in January and WWE is trying hard to keep the stars with them. Previously WWE Chairman Vince McMahon had rejected Kevin Owens’.
WWE if offering more TV time to Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn
In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that the pair will likely listen to offers. WWE has been giving Zayn and Owens more television time to keep them pleased with their spot in the company. They’re hoping to re-sign the wrestlers. If they leave, though, they’ll still be useful on their way out to put over young talents:
“Owens and Zayn are the two guys people know about whose deals are due soon and obviously both do go back with the Young Bucks, Adam Cole and others to PWG and the indie scene. If nothing else, you’d think they would listen to offers. Both being give[n] more TV time of late is likely due to wanting them to be happy with their push and stay but on the flip side if they don’t sign they can use them as names to put over the top people the way the booking is going.
A balance is being kept in the booking as Kevin Owens is booked for a four-way WWE Championship match at the Day 1 PPV on January 1, 2022. He will take on WWE Champion Big E, Seth Rollins, and Bobby Lashley. It is likely that if he is leaving the company, Owens will take the fall in the match to protect the other main event stars. While Sami Zayn recently challenged Damian Priest for the United States title in a losing effort on the November 22 Raw. He got tricked into a Universal Title Match by Brock Lesnar. The Beast had destroyed him, and Reigns scored the victory comfortably. This week as well, Zayn fell victim to Lesnar’s brutal attack.
