The alter ego of Bray Wyatt called The Fiend has been part of several matches but one of the highly anticipated dream match was between him and Finn Balor’s Demon persona that did not take place, it appears it would have possibly been at SummerSlam 2020, a rematch from the previous year. It’s unclear if the WWE could try it again at SummerSlam 2021.
The Fiend vs. Demon was cancelled
Balor took time off WWE television after his match against The Fiend when he had made his debut at SummerSlam 2019. He then took a long hiatus where he got married and got some new inks and finally made his comeback to NXT. Brock Lesnar WWE Contract Bombshell Leaks
Balor’s Demon persona has not been seen in a long time as he returned to NXT. It is noted that WWE had some plans for the gimmick to return. The idea was that Balor’s Demon would seek retribution on Bray Wyatt’s Fiend, but those plans were nixed.
During the Mat Men Pro Wrestling Podcast, Andrew Zarian was questioned that if the match between Balor’s Demon and Wyatt’s Fiend is a possibility for SummerSlam this year. He revealed that was supposed to take place last year but did not happen due to the pandemic.
“That was supposed to happen a year ago, but the pandemic happened.”
We will see if there is any change in the plans and eventually we might end up witnessing a match between The Fiend and The Demon.
