Over the weekend, WWE made a return to Madison Square Garden, featuring a main event steel cage match where Austin Theory defended his United States Championship against Seth Rollins. Charlotte also retained her SmackDown Women’s Title against Sonya Deville and Liv Morgan, while Cody Rhodes defeated Solo Sikoa by disqualification due to interference from the Usos, leading to a surprise appearance by Sami Zayn. Despite the advertised appearance of Bray Wyatt and Omos, they were both missing in action during the show, highlighting the unpredictable nature of the card.

Wyatt was scheduled to face LA Knight in a Lights Out Street Fight, but Knight addressed his absence in a vague manner and challenged someone else to fight instead. Braun Strowman stepped up to take the challenge and won the match. Wyatt is also not expected to appear in Providence for WWE Raw, putting a halt to the build-up for his presumed WrestleMania 39 match against Bobby Lashley.

On the other hand, Omos was also advertised for the MSG show but did not appear. It is believed that he was already in Rhode Island, preparing for his face-off against Brock Lesnar, his WrestleMania opponent. WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle believes that this bout is an excellent opportunity for Lesnar to “give back” to WWE and help build the future stars of the company.
