Matt Hardy had a great run in WWE, especially after his return in 2017. However, his Woken gimmick was not successful at all.
Matt Hardy recently spoke to “The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy,”, where he revealed what Vince McMahon thought of his storyline as Woken gimmick.
While at the time, the interest in the Hardys across the wrestling business was a major reason why WWE decided to bring back the illustrious team, Matt detailed why Vince didn’t understand “The Broken Universe.
“I do remember they were very pleasantly surprised that it did do that good of a number,” Hardy said. “I do remember whenever we were there, watching it at the venue, they were having the live show, and then whenever the match before us ended, they just put some other segment in there for the live crowd, they didn’t play it on the titantron. I do remember earlier that day, they played in the production meeting, ‘The Ultimate Deletion’, for the writers, and coaches, and producers.
“There was a standing ovation at the end of it, and I remember Vince was like, ‘I hope that means it’s good. I just don’t get it, I don’t get it.’ As he said that, I remember somebody told me [Vince said] in the production meeting, ‘I’ll tell you this, if this ends up doing a good number, I feel like I’m not on the pulse anymore. If this ends up doing a really good number, I need to change the way I do business because I’m not on the pulse anymore.’ It was also very frustrating, the line that was fed to Michael Cole right from the jump, kind of downplaying it already so that was very frustrating and disappointing as well.”
Triple H is currently the COO of WWE and he is also a veteran in the world of professional wrestling and sports entertainment, having competed in several great matches and countless memorable moments during his time as an active in-ring competitor in the company. ‘The Game’ would in addition go on to win countless championships during his time as an active competitor in the WWE including a multi-time WWE Champion and WWE World Heavyweight Champion.Triple H’s offer to buy a pro wrestling company was also previously revealed.
Matt Hardy also said he’d been texting with Bray Wyatt, who has been focused on acting. He said Bray wants to return to wrestling someday, and Matt thinks it would make sense for him to return to WWE.
Back in 2018 Triple H was still in charge of NXT and developing the brand in a way that fit his vision of what a pro wrestling brand should be like. For a very long time, Triple H’s vision bore fruit as NXT put on incredible matches and events for several years, often outclassing anything put out by the main roster in WWE.
Triple H has also been away from WWE television for a long time after suffering a very deadly health crisis. The Game recently announced that he has retired from in-ring competition for good after almost losing his life.
