Bret Hart pays tribute to late brother Owen on 19-year anniversary of his death

Yesterday marked the 19-year anniversary of Owen Hart’s tragic in-ring death at “WWF Over the Edge.” Owen’s brother, Bret Hart, paid tribute to his younger brother today via Twitter:

Owen Hart, while working the Blue Blazer gimmick, was scheduled to face The Godfather on May 23, 1999 and while being lowered from the arena rafters, fell 78-feet to his tragic death.

Attempts to revive Hart failed and he would pass away from injuries sustained. WWE famously continued with the PPV following the tragedy and it was left to Jim Ross to make the announcement on live television.

We miss you Owen Hart.

  • Arnold Jackson

I get her not wanting Vince to make money off of Owen but the fans do wish his legacy could be preserved better than it is now.

  • Rob ‘Richard Hammond’ Picken

Martha really needs to remove that stick from her ass and stop this crusade against the WWE, yes she’s got every right to be upset but the way she’s going about it and erasing his legacy is just petty.
