Why Brock Lesnar may not get UFC heavyweight title shot against Daniel Cormier

Brock Lesnar made his presence felt at UFC earlier this year when he confronted Daniel Cormier while also seemingly setting up a future fight between these two.

However, some latest update on the situation makes this match doubtful and puts The former Universal Champion’s return fight with Cormier in jeopardy.

Daniel has previously said that he has only 2 more fights left in his career and he was originally expected to face Brock Lesnar and Jon Jones as his final two opponents.

However, UFC recently announced that he will be defending his Heavyweight title against Derrick Lewis at their upcoming Madison Square Garden show.

This would mean that Cormier will have only one fight left and in a previous interview he has said that if he is forced to choose, he’ll choose Jones over Lesnar:

“The one opponent that would matter to me most is Jones, because he’s beaten me twice.”

All this combined could mean that Daniel Cormier may end up refusing to fight Lesnar and chose to retire instead and we may never get to see this fight.

However since it’s expected to be a big money fight, it’s entirely possible that Daniel ends up sticking around and decide to fight Brock in one final match.

The only thing that can be said right now is that this whole situation has only made the things more interesting and only the future will reveal if we’ll get to see this bout.
