Chris Jericho comments on drug usage in today’s wrestling compared to past

The wrestling world has seen many changes in the past few decades including an increase in safety precautions and a general decrease in drug usage among wrestlers.

Chris Jericho who has been wrestling for more than 30 years has seen all these changes and he talked about them during a recent appearance on Konnan’s Keeping It 100 podcast.

Jericho first talked about the difference in the backstage environment in AEW compared to his previous employers WWE, saying that Tony Khan knows how to take care of his athletes:

“It’s been a really cool environment with AEW because Tony is, you never want to say this, but he’s one of the boys to an extent,” Jericho said. “He’s one of the boys in that he hangs out after the show. He’s very generous. There’s food after every show for the entire crew. Half the time, there’s alcohol as well, so it’s almost like there’s an after party after every show, but the reason for that is the Khan family have a sports background.”

Talking about the decline in drug usage among competitors, Jericho said “Now, it’s you know, weed and alcohol, there’s really no pills, there’s really no drugs.”

Chris Jericho continued talking about the environment backstage at AEW and he explained how they sit down and share wrestling stories with the younger generation after each show.
