Chris Jericho on why he was on AEW commentary

During last week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Chris Jericho joined the commentary desk alongside Tony Schiavone. Fans loved Jericho in this role. This is a good thing as we will be seeing him work as a commentator for the upcoming set of tapings.

Tony Khan revealed that Jericho provided commentary for seven hours straight, praising him for his hard work.

During a Facebook stream, Chris Jericho provided an explanation as to why he wanted to be on commentary. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, AEW had to record under different circumstances. Y2J wanted to provide his commentary for the entire show.

“It was pretty fun. I’ve never commentated on a whole show before. The reason why I wanted to do it was just to have a presence on the show. As we kind of put a hold on so many things including “Blood & Guts,” so I wanted to be on the show and provide a little energy, just in case. You know we are working in front of eight people, 10 people all strategically spaced apart of course.”

It was his first time calling an entire night’s worth of wrestling, but it was definitely not apparent. Y2J handled his role with expertise and fans will be seeing more of him.

Jim Ross will be making his return next week on AEW Dynamite in order to provide commentary for the empty arena match between Jon Moxley and Jake Hager for the AEW World Title.
