Chris Jericho reacts to backlash for Fozzy performing during COVID-19

Chris Jericho and his band Fozzy have started running shows again. The tour kicked off last week, with Fozzy performing in North Dakota, South Dakota, and Iowa. Though, this decision wasn’t exactly a popular one on social media.

Pictures have appeared of the concerts, with the band performing in front of packed crowds. On Saturday Night Special yesterday, Jericho spoke on their decision to start playing concerts again.

“We actually did four shows this week, and the reason for that is we had our ‘Save the World Tour’ which was originally scheduled for April and May, but it got postponed to July and August, then got postponed to October and November.”

“Four shows remained in August, and I was like, ‘How?’ The shows are in South Dakota, and North Dakota, and we have on in Fort Madison, Iowa, which is right near the border of South Dakota. The reason why these shows have happened is that these states of North and South Dakota have low COVID cases, less than 1,000 in both states, I think Florida had 9,000 alone today.”

Jericho followed up, giving a detailed rundown of the safety precautions. Masks were provided, temperature checks were made, and more.

“The venues are either outside, or they are half capacity. We are sold out tonight in Minot with I think 50% capacity, last night we were sold out in Sioux Falls, SD with 35% capacity. We hand out masks at the door, the temperature checks. We stay on the bus all day, the Fozzy crew and camp have been tested.”

Chris Jericho and Fozzy have gotten quite a lot of negative press since performing last week. What do you think of their decision to run shows?

With their precautions, was something like this okay? Should they have cancelled or delayed these shows as well? Let us know in the comments below.
