Chris Jericho to defend AEW World Title against Cody Rhodes at Full Gear

Cody Rhodes has won two big singles matches in AEW so far and these wins are apparently enough to earn him a title shot at the next PPV of the company.

Sports Illustrated is reporting that the former WWE star will be getting a shot at the newly established AEW World Heavyweight Championship and he will face Chris Jericho at the upcoming Full Gear PPV.

The story also features comments from the company president Tony Khan who mentioned that Cody’s record in singles competition has earned him this opportunity:

“Cody’s outstanding record in singles competition has secured him the number one contender ranking, and he will be challenging AEW world champion Chris Jericho in the first ever pay-per-view defence of the championship on November 9 in Baltimore at Full Gear,”

This is the second match which has been announced for the PPV as the company previously confirmed that the cancelled Jon Moxley vs. Kenny Omega bout will also be taking place at the show.

AEW’s Full Gear pay-per-view takes place on Saturday, November 9 from the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, MD.
