Chris Jericho & Vince McMahon seemingly finalize trademark deal

Chris Jericho and his former employer WWE have come to an agreement with regards to trademarks. The deal allows WWE the rights to terms & concepts which Chris Jericho made himself during the time he was contracted to WWE.

The deal also stated that Jericho will be allowed to use the kayfabe name which he used during his time in WCW, ECW and before joining WWE. According to a report by the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the following was included in the deal:

“WWE and Chris Jericho have reached a trademark agreement. WWE agreed to give Jericho the rights to use the name in exchange for Jericho giving WWE the rights to own the intellectual property of anything created by either of them (perhaps a key being Money in the Bank since it was Jericho’s idea) while he was with the company. Jericho wouldn’t be able to use the term Y2J or any of the trademarks of his other characters in WWE. He could have used Jericho anyway based on prior usage but this is WWE acknowledging it.”

Jericho also mentioned during his Saturday Night Special streaming shows, that he was distancing himself from his old ”Y2J” name as it was a thing of the past and did not represent what he planned on doing in the future.

Jericho is currently scheduled to face Orange Cassidy in a Mimosa Mayhem match at AEW All Out on September 5th.
