WWE star Tamina Snuka has raised her voice against discrimination towards women wrestlers. HuffPost recently ran a story about three women who are prohibited from wrestling. Their Muslim beliefs make it impossible for them to join the organized competition. Their story received a lot of attention, especially from Tamina Snuka.

Zainab Ibrahim was slated to compete in the World Team Trials wrestling tournament. At stake was the opportunity to represent Team USA at the World Championships in Belgrade, Serbia, this fall. Ahead of the 2023 Women’s National Championships in Spokane, Washington, last weekend, her coach called with some news.

Ibrahim, who is Muslim and wears a hijab and modest clothing for religious reasons, would be allowed to cover her hair ― but she’d have to compete in a singlet without any clothing underneath, leaving her arms and legs exposed. Ibrahim then withdrew from the competition.

Tamina Snuka reacts

Tamina Snuka logged onto Twitter and she had to say something about this. She sent out a passionate message that it is time to wake up and do something about discrimination in today’s society.

“This is a call out to wrestling organizations still practicing discrimination in 2023. It is you that needs to change!

Muslim women want to be granted the right to pursue their dreams.

I stand with you Zainab! I am proud of you for not compromising your beliefs.”

Tamina Snuka also tweeted out to say, “you already have the heart of a gold medal champion!” to Zainab, who is going through this situation.
