CM Punk Can Get WWE Star For New AEW Show

AEW is seemingly planning for a Saturday night show, possibly called AEW Collision which is likely to debut this summer. There have been reports surrounding CM Punk, who has been speculated to make a return at the new show. There is a possibility that he could bring WWE star, Drew McIntyre for the brand-new show.

CM Punk is reportedly planning to return at AEW Collision

Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Podcast had reported in March that AEW would be running a Saturday night show starting this summer. It has also been revealed that AEW filed to trademark the show title “Collision” a couple of months ago.

Speaking on a recent episode of Mat Men, Zarian gave some new information on the plans that have been relayed to him. Matt Black of WrestleZone had reported on Friday night that the new AEW show would be titled “Collision” and that it would air Saturday nights from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Eastern time.

Zarian confirmed both of those items, then went one step further and noted that he has been told the show will likely air on TNT (rather than TBS).

The reports that CM Punk is currently planned to be the top star on the Saturday night show are also seemingly true as per Zarian. There’s a meeting scheduled soon between Punk, Tony Khan, Chris Jericho, FTR, and others to clear the air, so things could always change.

Zarian also reported on Saturday that sources relayed to him that not only will AEW be running Chicago’s Wintrust Arena on June 21st for Dynamite (already announced, tickets on-sale next week), but the company will also be running the debut episode of Collision in Chicago. He mentioned the date being Saturday, June 17th (yet to be announced), also believed to be at Wintrust Arena.

Drew McIntyre might make a move to AEW

There have been concerns regarding Drew McIntyre’s future with WWE. The former WWE Champion recently blacked out his Twitter this week. Last month, news broke that McIntyre’s current contract with WWE is set to expire this year and that he isn’t close to signing a new deal.

Furthermore, ‘The Scottish Warrior’ has been dealing with health issues that have kept him out of the ring since WrestleMania 39. McIntyre is yet to break his silence on the matter. Fans on Twitter noticed that McIntyre has blacked out his profile and has removed his profile picture and timeline banner.

McIntyre has also deleted all references to being employed by WWE, and his sole connection to WWE on the site is that he is using his WWE moniker. It has been reported that WWE and McIntyre remain nowhere close when it comes to money in regard to a new deal.

It was confirmed that Punk has been hopeful to work with The Elite despite their All Out brawl, but it’s unclear whether the two sides have talked. With the FTR and Chris Jericho being included in the reported meeting, they could also be involved in the new show.

We will now have to wait and see what AEW has in store for the fans.
