There already have been numerous speculations regarding the signing of CM Punk by AEW after he had expressed his desire to make a return to pro-wrestling. It has been noted that Chicago, the hometown of Punk will host three huge shows- Dynamite, Rampage, and All Out in the first week of September as they return to the NOW Arena.
CM Punk could make his debut in Chicago
Sources have confirmed to him that AEW President Tony Khan and the EVPs like Cody Rhodes, The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega seemed to have flown in the private jet on Sunday from Champagne-Urbana to Chicago. There could be chances that Punk is part of the deal. It has been also reported that the trip was potentially for them to film some promo at the United Center. It is expected that Tony Khan could make a huge announcement soon, which was believed to be event/venue related. We will have to see what future holds for the Second City Savior. A photo was uploaded below with Cody and Khan, also featuring Dean Malenko from WCW and WWE. Could they be flying to meet CM Punk?
Dave Meltzer recently said, “Unless something falls apart, they’re both coming in [Daniel Bryan and CM Punk]…there are signs that both (deals) are done. There are moves that I know of that are being made that would only be made if CM Punk was coming in.”
