Cody Rhodes Cancels WWE Return, Signing With Big Name?

Cody Rhodes’ talks with Vince McMahon and WWE have ‘fizzled out’ according to Bodyslam, and there is ‘hope’ he could end up back in AEW, possibly with an involvement in Tony Khan’s ROH.

Vince McMahon has been WWE Chairman since 1982 when he bought WWE from his father Vince Sr and his partners. McMahon saw quite a few changes in his company over the last few decades on top of that. All through that, the WWE Chairman continued to adapt to the changing times. However, many fans now feel that he is out of touch and simply has no idea what is good for a WWE Superstar and their growth. The WWE Chairman is larger than life in many ways and he also has his own oddities and problems as well. Vince McMahon’s huge WrestleMania 38 match was also recently revealed.
Vince McMahon is known for his whacky and sometimes outright offensive ideas. AEW President Tony Khan announced on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite that he has purchased Ring Of Honor, which will no doubt give him access to Ring Of Honor’s entire library and rich history and also their talent. At one time, Triple H also wanted to purchase Ring Of Honor from what it seems.
Not only that, both WWE and AEW were interesting in buying Ring Of Honor at the same time as well. According to Dave Meltzer on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, both WWE and AEW had a chance to buy Ring of Honor. In the end, Tony Khand made the better offer.

“Obviously, both WWE and AEW were contacted when the idea was to sell the company and AEW was the one that made the better offer of the two and got the company. As far as what this means going forward, I don’t know.

The tape library is very valuable to AEW because they want to do some sort of streaming service. Whether they sell something to HBO Max or they do their own streaming service in some form. That amount of library with a lot of wrestlers, including, one of the keys to that library is Ring of Honor owned the All In show which is an important part of the history of AEW… Also, it had all kinds of tapes of Bryan Danielson and a lot of other wrestlers. The Young Bucks, some of Kenny Omega, Jay Lethal.”
