Cody Rhodes claims he wasn’t good enough to win the 2013 Money in the Bank

At the 2013 Money in the Bank pay-per-view, Damien Sandow surprisingly earned a shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship by capturing the MITB briefcase for the first time in his career.

Heading into the show, Sandow’s former WWE tag team partner Cody Rhodes was also among the favorites to win the contractual briefcase, however, that wasn’t the case to be.

A fan recently recalled the historic Money in the Bank 2013 PPV in a recent exchange on Twitter, claiming that Cody should’ve been the rightful winner of the briefcase in Philadelphia from seven years ago.

In response, the All Elite Wrestling EVP claimed that rather preferred losing the ladder match that night and appreciated the story of him coming out as the losing party.

Cody’s tenure with WWE saw him establish himself as one of the finest all-rounder workers to have stepped foot into the wrestling business, as the former Intercontinental Champion gradually won over the WWE Universe’s trust and elevated himself in a position where the fans also wanted Cody to win the world title.

However, despite coming one step closer to winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, the former ‘American Nightmare’ believes that he simply wasn’t good enough at the time and also labeled himself as “immature”.

The AEW star will be facing Darby Allin once again in the semi-finals of the on-going inaugural TNT Championship Tournament this Wednesday on Dynamite.
