Cody Rhodes claims they haven’t even revealed half of the AEW roster

Cody Rhodes AEW

AEW has produced 3 shows till now and we have seen a number of impressive stars getting their first taste of limelight through their events.

However, while the fans believed that we have gotten an idea about how AEW’s roster might look after these shows, the EVP Cody Rhodes is suggesting that this is not the case.

A fan recently mentioned Cody in a tweet. He mentioned Goldberg’s recent WWE return and explained that AEW should sign some big sized guys too.

Replying to the tweet, the AEW Star and Executive Vice President made some interesting claims and he said that the company has only revealed 40% of their roster so far.

This revelation is exciting for the fans of AEW and with the company gearing up to launch their weekly TV show in October we can expect more names to be revealed in near future.

In fact, they haven’t even hired half the roster yet!

I also like how Cody deflects criticism by saying “It’s better to let the painter paint, then judge the picture”, as if they haven’t declared the company a massive success off a 50% PPV sell out rate.

My point, exactly. Thank you for confirming statistics.

According to the AEW website they currently have 38 male wrestlers and 11 female (49 in total).
WWE just going on active (inc injured) wrestlers (so no Nikki Bella etc)
    Smackdown 35 male 14 female
    RAW 41 male 14 female.

With only one two hour show a week, why would AEW want to increase their number by 60% ?
WWE struggles to utilise all their talent and they have more screen hours available.

Between all three brands? Absolutely right.

  • Soulshroude

    Pretty damned sure.

    40?

Not as long as CC’s post, mine is straight and to the point. Of course AEW hasn’t shown half it’s roster, yet. WWe has over 40 people under contract, AEW has only shown a very small percentage of that. I’m sure everything will be revealed after the television debut and the website is updated.

One of the biggest complaints people have about WWE is they have too many talent on their roster, and that is a company with two weekly shows that fill up 5 hours of TV time.
AEW currently has around 49 or 50 wrestlers (male and female) for one show a week which will probably be 2 hours long. If that is only 40% of their roster, then it will be even worse than WWE for getting people on TV surely? 40% of their roster means they are looking at having about 125 wrestlers on their books. How the hell does that work?

As for modern wrestlers, and saying no disrespect to those who paved the way. Well that just sounds like sour grapes if the rumours of AEW going after Goldberg and failing, are true. Especially when you consider they have the likes of Jericho, Dustin Rhodes, Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian on their books.

Cody used to be a lot more grounded, often complimenting WWE after he left and even going as far as to say he blames himself as much as WWE for his position in the company when he was there, but just recently he has started getting a bit petty. And that is not a good look on anyone, as we all know the king of pettiness is Vince McMahon and who on Earth wants to look like that?

Just admit you did not get the guy you wanted, and go about making AEW into a first class promotion. Do not lower yourself to Vinces level.
