Cody Rhodes says WWE still promotes the stars from the past instead of future stars

The former WWE star said that the company is still stuck with the idea of promoting nostalgia through the stars of the past era. He also spotted how WWE is doing things wrong while advertising.

He appreciated the tactic WWE is playing with but it is wrong not to push the future stars of the company. Unlike WWE, Tony Khan’s AEW tries to push the stars of their current roster who perform every week.

Rhodes said:

“It’s not negative. Like, if you’re trying to present ‘Ricky Starks is our guy, he’s the future,’ well then don’t make him the same size as who I was gonna say was mean — don’t make him the same size as… he’s gotta be front and center. He’s got to be presented as such. That’s wrestling, traditional wrestling — You lead.”

He added:

“That’s one of the problems WWE has. They still post… it’s still John Cena and The Undertaker — they’re not wrestling, dog.”

These days, WWE has many stars on their roster who are not often featured or they don’t have matches every week.
