Cody Rhodes Will Never Beat Roman Reigns

Fans had backed Cody Rhodes to dethrone the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39. However, that was not the case, and WWE’s booking decision met with a mixed reaction. Triple H and other pro wrestling legends had shared their thoughts on the outcome of the match. ‘The American Nightmare,’ who vowed to finish his story was left disappointed with the defeat and fans wondered why he lost the bout. One of the reasons given by ‘The Game’ was that a story never ends in WWE.

WWE reportedly has no plans for Cody to beat Roman Reigns

The company has seemingly shifted Rhodes’ attention from Roman Reigns and The Bloodline. Billi Bhatti recently reported that there is no definitive timeline for Cody Rhodes to beat Roman Reigns.

Cody Rhodes is currently involved in a feud with Brock Lesnar and that is might be the reason as to why the shift transpired in a quick fashion. Lesnar recently came out as the mystery partner of Cody Rhodes at the start of WWE RAW after WrestleMania 39 in what many assumed would be the main event match against Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa. However, that match never even started.

Before the match could even start, the fans were left shocked with the developments. Cody Rhodes was ready to face Reigns but was not prepared when Lesnar suddenly hit him with the F5. This was followed by another as the beatdown continued. He threw Rhodes out and beat him up there, destroying him in the ringside area. He even put him through the commentary table with another F5.

However, just as the personnel started to treat him, Brock Lesnar then turned back yet again, throwing his gloves off as he was about to rush to the WWE ring. He then got a signal from an official and stayed away, realizing that the time for the show had run out. It is not known if it was the plan of The Bloodline and Paul Heyman all along.

This week, Lesnar made an appearance on Monday Night Raw. Though Cody tried to get his hands on Lesnar, he failed due to the tight security. Brock Lesnar vs Cody Rhodes match is slated to take place at Backlash, which is set to take place on May 6 at Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Potential opponents for Roman Reigns

It seems that WWE would have pulled the trigger at WrestleMania 39 if Cody Rhodes would have been the one to defeat Reigns. There is a possibility that WWE has other stars in mind who could dethrone ‘The Tribal Chief.’ Roman Reigns is nearing on towards 1000-day mark as the champ and options are slowly narrowing down.

There is the possibility of returning to the storyline between Sami Zayn and Roman Reigns. Before Zayn and Kevin Owens won the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania 39, WWE were hot with Zayn He has a history with Reigns. With Cody Rhodes being out of the picture, it makes sense for Zayn to step back into the spotlight if not defeat him.

Reigns’ former Shield brethren Seth Rollins could another option. ‘The Visionary’ is the only star to win a Universal Championship match against Roman Reigns since he first won the title, albeit by disqualification. Since their match at the Royal Rumble in 2022, fans have been clamoring for a rematch between the former Shield brothers.

Meanwhile, one of Roman’s closest allies, Solo Sikoa, could be the one to finally end his legendary title reign. Sikoa’s main roster run has been impressive. He first joined WWE’s main roster following a stint in NXT beginning at the Clash at the Castle event last year. He has been nearly undefeated on the main roster. Sikoa has been Reigns’ trump card and the former has played a major role in the success of ‘The Tribal Chief.’ Sikoa has been built as a massive star following his debut. He could get a huge ‘push’ and dethrone Roman Reigns.

We will now have to wait and see what WWE has in store for the fans.
