While Conor McGregor Vs Dustin Poirier is set to be one of the most highly anticipated fights in UFC history, UFC boss Dana White thinks that the event could be ‘record-breaking’ for the company. In a recent interview on The Mac Life, White revealed to interviewer Oscar Willis that UFC 264 which will be host to the third fight in the McGregor-Poirier series, has the highest pre-orders out of any card in UFC history. Conor McGregor recently leaked this ‘bad message’ to Dustin Poirier’s wife.
White also stated during this sit down that this could be ‘record-breaking’ for UFC on a whole. Wrestling-Edge transcribed the following remarks
White: This fight, this weekend has more celebrities coming to it than any fight in UFC history. It’s had more pre-buys than any fight in UFC history as well. I’ve been saying to fans: ‘If you know you are going to buy this fight on Saturday night. do it now, don’t do it on Saturday.’ You’re gonna have two-three million people trying to buy it at the same time, that’s where you’re going to have problems and I think a lot of people are going to be smart. That’s why it’s had more pre-buys than any UFC fight ever. Buy it now so you don’t have to deal with it on Saturday. Dustin Poirier revealed these ’embarrassing’ Conor McGregor emails earlier this week.
Willis: We could be looking at record-breaking here?
White: I think so, it’s obviously the biggest pay-per-view of the year.
