After UFC San Antonio over the weekend, there were no significant medical suspensions issued. However, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation imposed six-month layoffs on four fighters from the card. Every fighter on the card was required to take a mandatory break of at least eight days, and the commission released the medical suspensions.
The four fighters who received the longest suspensions until September 21 were Daniel Pineda, Lucas Alexander, Steven Peterson, and CJ Vergara. In Texas, medical privacy laws prevent the release of the suspensions’ exact nature. However, fighters can usually gain clearance earlier with approval from a physician. Peterson declared his retirement after losing to Alexander, so his suspension is unlikely to affect him significantly.
In the main event, Cory Sandhagen, who defeated Marlon “Chito” Vera by split decision in a five-round fight, received a slightly longer suspension than his opponent. Sandhagen’s suspension is until May 10th, while Vera’s is until April 25th. After competing in a three-round co-main event in Texas, Holly Holm and Yana Santos both received the same suspension until April 25th.
