On Monday Night Raw, it was revealed that John Cena would not be participating in the Best in the World Cup at WWE Crown Jewel. Bobby Lashley was announced as his replacement later on in the night. However, it now seems that Daniel Bryan is joining John Cena in avoiding the Saudi Arabian event altogether.
PWInsider reported today that Daniel Bryan will not be working Crown Jewel. Though the WWE has yet to make an official announcement regarding Bryan’s status, Mike Johnson and PWInsider have confirmed the story with multiple sources.
The GOAT was supposed to face AJ Styles for the WWE Championship at the event, after earning a shot at the title at WWE Super Show-Down, where Bryan defeated his longtime rival The Miz.
Bryan apparently stated that he would not be traveling to Saudi Arabia, and the company has been working on plan B since last week.
As for the WWE Championship, it’s unknown what direction the WWE will take. It’s possible we could see Bryan “injured” tonight, with someone like The Miz taking his place.
