Deontay Wilder was set to face off against Britain’s WBC champion Tyson Fury for the WBC World Heavyweight Championship in Las Vegas on July 24. Ahead of their boxing match, they had a press conference where they could not stop staring at each other. However, that was cancelled after Tyson Fury tested positive for COVID-19. Tyson Fury also leaked bad news related to Wilder’s health previously.
Deontay Wilder’s fiancée, Telli Swift recently spoke to TMZ Sports and claimed that Tyson Fury’s COVID-19 diagnosis is just him trying to buy time before his fight against Deontay Wilder.
You’ve trained so hard, blood, sweat, and tears and then for someone to have COVID and Deontay’s fight with torn biceps, broken fingers, burns on his arms, and he still fought,” Swift says.
“So, I just feel like with COVID and you have sixteen days until the fight, he should still be able to fight and make it happen.”
“I don’t think that he’s ready. I think he’s buying time, and I just feel like he feels Deontay is at the best looking-wise.”
“Personally, I don’t believe anything that he says. So, I don’t believe anything that he says, and that’s that.”
“Deontay’s mind … he eats, sleeps, lives Tyson Fury. So, he’s ready for Tyson!”
