WWE Battleground 2015 PPV Results: The Undertaker Returns

Welcome to the 2015 edition of the WWE Battleground Kickoff Pre-Show. Renee Young, Booker T, Corey Graves and Bryon Saxton and welcome us in for the show.

 


 

Paul Heyman will be in the social media lounge with Tom Phillips later in the show. Tom brought up that Ryback will be out of action with an injury, which Tom read Ryback’s tweets about the injury. He then showed Miz’s tweets about Ryback’s injury.

Highlights of the John Cena – Kevin Owens feud. The panel previewed the match and gave their predictions, which almost everyone took Cena to win.

Highlights of the Roman Reigns – Bray Wyatt feud. The panel hypes this match as a big fight with two big men.

R-Truth cuts a backstage promo about his match with King Barrett. He said that he knows what he is doing. He knows that Barrett busted his butt to get where he is, he did too. It’s not about fun and games, he can’t wait to see Barrett’s face when he beats him tonight.

Highlights of the Randy Orton – Sheamus as well as The New Day – Prime Time Players feuds. The New Day cut a promo about how they will get back their tag team titles tonight.

Battleground Kickoff Match: King Barrett vs. R-Truth

They traded strikes to begin the match, Truth with a headlock takedown, then grabbed onto the neck of Barrett. However, Barrett fought out with strikes. Barrett with a series of headbutt, Barrett missed a clothesline and Truth rolled him up for 2. Truth with a dropkick sending Barrett to the floor, then hit a top rope dive. Back in the ring, Barrett hit him with a big boot for 2.

We’re back from break with Barrett connecting with a back elbow for 2.

Moments later, Truth made his comeback when he reversed an Irish whip. Truth with a series of clothesline, then a missile drop kick for 2. Truth went for the successor kicks, but blocked and instead hit a heel kick, then the scissor kick for a near fall. Truth off the ropes and right into the Winds of Change side slam for 2. Barrett missed the Bull Hammer and Truth rolled him up for 2. Barrett with the Bull Hammer for the win.

Winner: Barrett and still the king of the WWE.

Paul Heyman is backstage with Tom Phillips for a Q&A session. Heyman promised that his client, Brock Lesnar, would get the WWE title tonight. Heyman said that Lesnar will use as many suplexes as he needs to win the match.

We are shown a recap of Charlotte, Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks making their main roster debut. Tom Phillips said that Stephanie McMahon has requested all nine divas involved in that segment on RAW to be here tonight.

Highlights of the Seth Rollins – Brock Lesnar feud is shown.

Welcome to the 2015 edition of the WWE Battleground pay-per-view. We are shown the intro video to tonight’s PPV event.

Singles Match: Randy Orton vs. Sheamus

A slow start to this one, Sheamus plays up the chicken crap heel moves where he continues to roll out of the ring. Orton followed him out there and sent him shoulder first into the barricade. Back in the ring, they exchange uppercuts. Orton off the ropes kicked Sheamus in the gut, but walked into a back breaker by Sheamus. Sheamus with another one and then a third.

Sheamus with a knee to the gut of Orton then went to the top rope where he landed a knee drop for 2. Orton fought back with right hands. Orton with a series of elbows, then clotheslines him out of the ring. Sheamus dragged him out to the floor, they exchange strikes until Orton hit a back suplex to Sheamus on the announce table. Back in the ring, Orton ducked a big boot and hit a scoop slam for 2. Sheamus blocked a right hand and hit the rolling senton followed by a huge powerslam for 2.

Sheamus missed the brogue kick and Orton went for the RKO, but blocked. Sheamus went for a leg submission, but blocked and Sheamus went for the white noise for a near fall. Orton ducked a clothesline and hit a scoop slam for 2. Orton with right hands in the corner, then a super-suplex off the middle rope. Orton with a DDT off the middle rope. Sheamus blocked an RKO and hit a brogue kick.

Sheamus locked in the Texas Cloverleaf submission, but Orton got to the ropes. Orton and hit an RKO for the win.

Winner: Orton.

We are shown a recap of Charlotte, Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks making their main roster debut on RAW. Stephanie McMahon cut a promo backstage about how tonight there will be a triple threat match that will see a representative from the trio teams wrestling in the match.

The New Day promised to become the new Tag Team Champions because today is the new day.

Tag Team Championship Match: Prime Time Players © vs. New Day

Darren Young and Kofi Kingston started things off, Young with a neck breaker, then hit a belly to belly suplex. Titus tagged in and hit a big chop to the chest of Kofi. This hurt so much that Kofi rolled out of the ring to regroup. Big E tagged in, but walked into a slam by Titus, who then followed up with a knee drop and tagged in Young. This led to Big E tossing Young over the top rope crashing into the camera man.

Kofi with a wicked kick to the face of Young. New Day got the heat on Young until Young fought back and got the hot tag to Big E. Titus got the hot tag and cleaned house on both New Day members.

Titus with a fallaway slam on Kofi. He got fired up, then hit a splash in the corner on Kofi. Woods kicked Titus in the head and Kofi hit a DDT for 2. Kofi went to the top rope, but was speared in mid-air. DY tagged in and a suplex on Kofi. He hit a back suplex on Woods, who was on the apron. Kofi caught Young with a kick, then tagged in Big E, who went for his finisher, but Young blocked. Young sent Big E into the ring post. Young hits his finisher on Kofi. Titus tagged in and hit his sit-down powerbomb on Big E for the win.

Winners and still champs: PTP.

Paige, Becky Lynch and Charlotte did a backstage segment about how they show who the real Divas of the WWE tonight.

Singles Match: Roman Reigns vs. Bray Wyatt

They lock up, Wyatt tosses him into the corner, but Reigns reverse and throws some big strikes on Wyatt. Reigns with a clothesline sending Wyatt to the floor. Reigns sent Wyatt into the barricade. Wyatt with a knee to the gut of Reigns and then got heat on him in the corner. Reigns ran out of the corner and hit a clothesline. Reigns followed up with a Samoan drop that sends Wyatt to the floor.

Reigns followed him out there, but missed a spear and ate the ring steps. Back in the ring, Wyatt with a big splash in the corner on Reigns. Wyatt with a series of right hands to the face of Reigns in the corner, then sent him to the floor. Wyatt hit a DDT on Reigns on the apron.

Wyatt with a headlock on Reigns, but Reigns fought out with a back suplex.

Reigns with a series of elbows, then right hands. Reigns with a clothesline and pops the crowd. Reigns with a big power slam. Reigns went for a dropkick on the apron, but Wyatt suckered him in and hit a clothesline.

Wyatt followed it up with a back splash. Back in the ring, Wyatt went for a suplex off the top rope, but Reigns blocked and hit a sit-down powerbomb for 2. Reigns missed the superman punch and Wyatt sent him to the floor. Reigns tripped him on the apron and followed it up with a dropkick on the apron. Back in the ring, Wyatt caught Reigns and hit a chokeslam for 2. Wyatt went for Sister Abigail, but blocked and Reigns  hit a superman punch for 2. Reigns went for a spear, but ran into a big boot.

Wyatt with a huge right hand for 2. Wyatt went for Sister Abigail again, but blocked and Reigns hit a series of clotheslines in the corner. Reigns hit a Samoan drop on Wyatt. This leads to Wyatt rolling out of the ring and to the floor. Wyatt with a cheap shot to Reigns, who followed him out to ringside. Wyatt sent him into the barricade then into the ring. Wyatt grabbed a chair, but Reigns rolled to the floor and punched Wyatt in the face. Reigns grabbed the chair, two chairs in fact and threw him into the ring. A man in a black hoodie attacked Reigns and sent him into the ring post, but the referee didn’t see it.

Back in the ring, Wyatt hit Sister Abigail for the win.

Winner: Wyatt.

Luke Harper revealed himself as the hooded man. He and Wyatt stands tall in the ring to close the segment.

U.S Championship Match: John Cena © vs. Kevin Owens

“Let’s go Cena, Cena sucks” chants break out to start the match. Owens with a headlock and then a back elbow. Owens whipped Cena hard into the corner twice, then hit a swinging neck breaker for 2.

The fans got behind Cena, but when Cena tried to hit a series of shoulder blocks, Owens cut off with a forearm shot and then a back splash. Cena popped up and hit a dropkick for 2. Cena with a side slam for a near fall. Cena went to the top rope and hit a leg drop for 2. Cena lifted up Owens, but Owens blocked and hit a DDT for 2. Owens talked trash, which in turned fired up Cena and he hit a side slam. Owens rolled to the apron and punched Cena in the face. Owens to the top rope and hit a front senton, but Cena put up his knees to block it. Owens with a side slam, then the five knuckle shuffle. Owens went for the AA, but blocked and Cena hit a facebuster followed by the STF submission.

Owens rolled out so he could hit a sickening back breaker. Owens with a German suplex, then a cannonball in the corner for 2.

They exchange right hands, Cena hit the hanging flip, roll up for 2. Cena went to the top rope, but Owens caught him and hit a powerbomb. Cena popped up and hit an AA on Owens for 2. Cena puts Owens on the top rope, but Owens blocked and hit a wicked suplex for 2. Owens with a superkick then the AA and then locked in the STF.

Cena crawled to the ropes to break the hold. Cena with a back elbow, then a DDT off the middle rope for 2. Cena hit the springboard stunner, but Owens no sold it and hit a clothesline on Cena. Owens with a brainbuster for a near fall. Owens is starting to become frustrated. Owens went for a powerbomb, but blocked and Cena hit an AA for 2. Cena with a big time clothesline to Cena. Cena off the ropes, but right into a pop-up powerbomb by Owens. Owens went to the top rope, but Cena punched him to knock him down. Cena hit the middle rope AA for a near fall. Cena is shocked as the fans go nuts.

Cena lifted up Owens, but let him go. Cena sold it as what do I do next? Owens rolled up Cena for 2. Cena with the STF submission lock and Owens tapped out.

Winner and STILL Champ: Cena.

The Miz walks out and cuts a promo about how he had big plans for Monday as he would be the new Intercontinental Champion. He called Ryback a pansy. He said that Ryback should retire and that the IC title should be given to him. Big Show walks out, which resulted in the Miz purposing them team up as ShowMiz. Big Show has no time for that as he hit a KO punch to Miz and left.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match: Seth Rollins © vs. Brock Lesnar

Lesnar rushed Rollins and hit a series of shoulder tackles to Rollins. Lesnar went for a German suplex, but Rollins hit a series of elbows then ran from Lesnar. Back in the ring, Lesnar caught Rollins and went for a German suplex, but Rollins held onto the ropes. Rollins went for a drop kick, but caught. Lesnar went for an F5, but blocked. Rollins went for a dive off the top rope, but caught and Lesnar hit a German suplex.

Lesnar began hitting a series of German suplexes with the fans counting along. Rollins rolled to the floor, he got up and took the WWE title. He began walking through the crowd, Lesnar jumped the barricade and tackled Rollins. Lesnar set the title back down, then got into the ring. Lesnar went for a German, but Rollins landed on his feet. Rollins with a superkick, he hit a second one that dropped Lesnar. Rollins with four of them and a fifth one. Rollins went for the pedigree, but Lesnar countered and went for the F5, but Rollins fought out. Rollins with some kicks, then sent Lesnar to the floor. Rollins with a dive through the ropes that doesn’t drop Lesnar. Rollins with another and still Lesnar stands. Rollins in the ring, but Lesnar caught him and hit a belly to belly suplex. Lesnar with some more German suplexes, but this time Lesnar doesn’t let go. Lesnar with a big time slap to the face of Rollins. Rollins with a slap of his own.

The lights go out and the Undertaker is standing in the ring. Brock is shocked. Taker went for a chokeslam,  but blocked. He blocked an F5 attempt by Lesnar and Taker low blowed him.

The fans chant for Taker. He went to leave, but Lesnar began getting up. Taker with a second tombstone. The fans chanted for one more time. Taker did his pose in the ring with the fans going nuts. Taker walks to the back to end the show.
