Dolph Ziggler has “handshake agreement” with WWE

Dolph Ziggler hasn’t been seen in the WWE since appearing in this year’s Royal Rumble match. On January 27th, the same night of the Rumble, he began his stand up comedy tour in Phoenix, Arizona, and has been on the road since.

While he’s been away from the ring for months, he’s still with the company, though he’s currently working through a handshake agreement. In a recent interview with Wrestling Inside the Ropes, he discussed his status with the company.

Technically, I am (under contract), yes. It’s weird because for the last two years I’ve had somewhat of a handshake agreement, kind of a behind closed doors deal with WWE. I’ve been able to do a lot of things on my own, not at WWE, just because of the relationship we’ve had for the last 14 years. So, I have a bit of a handshake agreement right now, but we’ll know some more details in the coming months.

The Dolph Ziggler Comedy Tour should be wrapping up over the next few weeks, with the final date of the run taking place on March 21st in Toledo, Ohio.
