Dolph Ziggler on being genuinely jealous of Kofi Kingston

Kofi Kingston’s rise to the main event scene, that culminated in him winning the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania, was a long time coming and was well-received by fans. During this time, Dolph Ziggler was absent from the company.

Ziggler had taken a break from WWE to pursue his comedy career and upon his return to the squared circle, Kofi was still the top star on Smackdown Live.

Dolph spoke to Chris Van Vliet, where he revealed that he was genuinely jealous of Kofi Kingston. He added that the “it should have been me” gimmick was actually a shoot. Despite being happy for Kofi, he still wishes he could have been in the main event scene instead.

I’m genuinely jealous that Kofi got this, he has everyone behind him, he has the locker room behind him but then he went above and beyond to get that Kofi Mania a real-life thing happen to where people in the back are cheering … I was out and to get behind that and still be rooting for someone else, it’s weird because we’re all wanting ourselves to be the champion.

For now, Ziggler is busy furthering his rivalry with The Miz.
