Dominik Mysterio debuted a new mask at WWE Money in the Bank, as seen below.
WWE veteran star Rey Mysterio is undoubtedly one of the greatest masked wrestler of all time, if not the greatest. Hid merchandise have high sales and the biggest attraction are the masks he wear. Now, it turns out the mask could have been on the line for a potential storyline.
Kalisto almost pitched a storyline with Rey Mysterio
The former WWE star Kalisto recently revealed that he had penciled a storyline involving Rey and they could have gone head to head in a mask vs mask match where Rey would possibly lose the match. But, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon did not buy the idea. John Cena Posts WWE Return Video?
Kalisto, the former Lucha House Party member spoke to Insight With Chris Van Vliet and revealed that he pitched a mask vs mask concept for a match, but McMahon had scrapped off the idea.
Here is what he had to say:
“My biggest regret is not pitching my idea to Vince. Pretty much the whole world knew except for Vince. [I wanted to do] a mask vs. mask match against Rey Mysterio. I had Rey’s blessing, Dominik’s blessing, everyone. They all loved it. I showed it to Paul Heyman too. Paul said ‘This is genius, do it.’ I was like let’s do this! It’s just such a good story, it’s my biggest regret not talking to Vince about it. Right before I was going to, I got released.”
“I was prepared for anything, I had such a great story that nobody would have expected. So for Paul Heyman to say that’s genius, I got something. The writers, everyone loved it. I even showed it to Daniel Bryan and Edge, they loved it. But it’s my own fault. I should have gone [to Vince].”
Kalisto’s regret remains as he was released from WWE recently and the potential match would not come into fruition anytime soon.
