Over on the ever=popular UFC subreddit, fans are still talking about the stunning conclusion of the fight between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier. They are also talking about what this means going forward for McGregor as one Reddit user by the name of Elders22 stated: “Conor was never a true contender at 155. He beat Eddie Alvarez at an opportune time. He skipped the elite and got a title shot since it would generate money. Alvarez was a weak champion and would have lost to Khabib or Tony anyway. He then went to ONE and lost his debut. Beating him was no big deal.
The user continued: “And now we see Conor can’t beat the elite at LW…. Khabib smashed him and made him quit, Poirier just beat him twice in a row, a 2nd round KO and was smashing him before the leg broke. Conor was great when he was younger and at 145, but he was never good enough for 155. He’s a one trick pony and his one trick doesn’t work against guys his own size. He can try for a rematch again all he wants, he will just get smashed again. He’s done.
