In a surprising turn of events, Alina Habba, a lawyer known for her defense of former President Donald Trump, has been removed from her role defending Trump in a financial fraud lawsuit brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James. Instead, she will be taking on new responsibilities within Trump’s Save America leadership Political Action Committee.
The PAC confirmed in a press release that Habba will now serve as their legal spokesperson and general counsel, while also assisting Trump with “certain legal matters.” As a result, she will withdraw from the Trump Organization case initiated by Letitia James, as well as other cases, in order to devote her time to serving as Trump’s “media representative on legal matters.”
Steven Cheung, the communications director for Trump, expressed his appreciation for Habba’s dedicated work on the various legal cases that have been brought against the former president, referring to them as “witch-hunt cases.” Habba herself expressed her honor at being asked by Trump to assist in the Save America PAC, stating that being able to devote more time to addressing his legal matters publicly is a privilege of a lifetime.
Habba’s involvement in Trump’s legal battles goes beyond the financial fraud lawsuit. She is also connected to Trump’s classified documents case, where she was among the lawyers called before a federal grand jury due to her efforts to compile subpoenaed documents that Trump allegedly held improperly at his Mar-a-Lago resort.
