Drew McIntyre and Sheamus reportedly didn’t need to follow a script for most of their match on WWE Raw. Although the fallout from this past week’s WWE Raw has been caught up in the aftermath of ‘the Almighty’ Bobby Lashley capturing the WWE Championship for the first time in his career against The Miz, one underrated highlight was the nearly thirty minute clinic between two former WWE Champions in Drew McIntyre and Sheamus which opened the show this past Monday Night. FightfulSelect.com reported how that particular match caught the eye of not only the WWE universe but higher-ups in the company as well. Drew McIntyre recently ‘spoiled’ this WrestleMania main event.
Fightful Select reported, “Drew McIntyre vs. Sheamus caught the attention of wrestling fans on Monday Night Raw, as their 24-minute match tore the virtual house down. Higher ups in WWE that we spoke to said that they were pleased with the match, and noted specifically Sheamus’ in-ring hot streak of late. We’re told that a large portion of the match was called in the ring as well.”
In other news concerning Drew McIntyre, former WWE writer Vince Russo recently revealed how WWE should produce Rocky IV-esque training vignettes in Scotland to get McIntyre prepared against Bobby Lashley. Russo made these comments during a recent edition of SK Wrestling’s Writing With Russo. He told Dr. Chris Featherstone the following.
Bro, when Drew loses it, let him go back to Scotland. I’m gonna go back to the beginning and let’s see that kind of training. Scotland’s a beautiful country, let’s see that.“I mean, bro, you can get six months out of this easy, without batting an eye. But gosh, bro, you’ve got to keep both of these guys strong, and every time it’s a win [beat each other] it’s a hair, bro, just a hair, and then you can come back to it at any time.” A McIntyre vs. Roman Reigns title match rumor leaked.
