Drew McIntyre reacts to winning back the WWE Championship on RAW

Drew McIntyre lost his WWE Championship to Randy Orton at Hell in a Cell last month.

The Viper pushed Drew McIntyre off the side of the cell crashing into the announcer’s table for more then 10 feet. He then went for the pin to win his 14th World title in WWE, matching the record of Triple H’s.

Drew McIntyre has been after Randy Orton ever since, determined to take his belt back. Heading towards Survivor Series on November 22, McIntyre had an added incentive to do so. Whoever held the WWE title was set to face the Universal Champion Roman Reigns at Survivor Series.

Drew McIntyre is not taking his title for granted

In last week’s WWE RAW, Adam Pearce announced in a backstage segment that Randy Orton will have to defend his WWE Championship against Drew McIntyre on the go-home episode for Survivor Series.

Randy Orton was not at all happy with the decision and grabbed Adam Pearce by the collar. But he did show up for the match last night.

A majority of the WWE Universe expected Randy Orton to defend his title, assuming WWE would want to keep a high octane match like McIntyre vs. Reigns for a later time. But shocking the fans, Drew McIntyre clinched a hard-fought victory over The Viper and left the ring as a two-time WWE Champion as RAW went off air.

Later on, he took to Twitter to express his thoughts on his massive win. He said he was proud of the match and he was never going to take the responsibility of being a champion lightly.

The WWE Champion issued a challenge to Roman Reigns

When Drew McIntyre made a surprise appearance on last week’s episode of SmackDown, he had an intense face-off with Roman Reigns. The Tribal Chief, who stood there with his special counsel Paul Heyman, told McIntyre to win a title first and then think about fighting him.

In a backstage interview after his championship win, Drew McIntyre fired back at Roman Reigns.

“I think I have got the words for this one. You told me to go get a title, Roman. I went and got a title. See you Sunday.”

The match with Randy Orton was stipulated as a ‘No Disqualification’ and ‘No Count-Outs’ affair. Both men gave their all in the squared circle for the title that Roman Reigns considers “secondary” in WWE.

Drew McIntyre’s made several failed attempts at his trademark Claymore throughout the match. However, in the final moments, he stopped Randy Orton from delivering an RKO and finally hit the Claymore to get the pin.
