Edge ‘Buried’ Drew McIntyre In Smackdown Match

Edge will have his first match on Smackdown in a decade next week against Jey Uso, with the winner becoming special enforcer for the Roman Reigns vs. Daniel Bryan Universal Title match at WWE Fastlane next Sunday. Edge just reacted to Christian Cage quitting WWE for AEW.

Fightful.com’s Sean Ross Sapp tweeted an interesting fact about Edge’s last Smackdown squash match, “Edge’s last match on Smackdown was two weeks shy of ten years ago. He beat Drew McIntyre in 2:25.”

The Edge vs. Uso match was revealed during a contract signing between Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan on Smackdown, with Uso volunteering to be enforcer while Edge interrupted. Smackdown ended with a brawl and Bryan attacking Edge.

Edge and Bryan teased a potential WrestleMania match to open the show, which would happen if Bryan wins the title at WWE Fastlane.

WWE announced after Adam Pearce made it official on Smackdown, “IT’S OFFICIAL!! For the first time in 11 years, @EdgeRatedR will compete in a one-on-one match on #SmackDown against Jey @WWEUsos! The winner of the match will be the Special Guest Enforcer for the #UniversalTitle Match at #WWEFastlane!” Beth Phoenix just reacted to Edge ‘losing’ Christian Cage in WWE on Twitter.
