Edge talks about his retirement

Edge first teased retirement during an episode of Monday Night RAW in August 2022. He once again talked about his plans to retire during an interview with The Nation Network in November of the same year. It was reported that Edge could retire this year at the upcoming SummerSlam premium live event.

Edge reflected on his latest match during the post-how press conference. He talked about his plans to retire as well.

“You know, I try not to make any firm decisions, but here’s what I can say about tonight. For 9 years I was retired. I came back and I get to team with my wife, who I married while I was retired and we had two beautiful little girls. If it looks like I’m having fun out there, it’s because I’m having a blast. We get to hit a Shatter Machine, which we’ve never attempted before, and we pulled it off. I’m just ecstatic, I’m not even thinking about what I’m having for breakfast tomorrow, let alone in six, seven, eight months – but I do [want to retire] in Canada.”

Elsewhere during the conference, Edge accepted Austin Theory’s open challenge for the United States Championship on the upcoming edition of Monday Night RAW.
