WWE Hall of Famer Batista is not unfamiliar with backstage controversies. It was back in 2017 that the former ECW star Shelly Martinez made a bold statement claiming that a backstage altercation with Batista led to WWE firing her in 2007. She was popular on the ECW brand under the name Ariel. However, it seems that is all in the past now.
Shelly Martinez and Batista are seemingly on good terms
Shelly Martinez took to Twitter and let the fans know that she shares a cordial relationship with Batista. She tweeted the following along with a photo she took with him:
“When people make fun of Batista to me it’s annoying. Just because I had an incident w him YEARS ago doesn’t mean I wanna make fun of him. It’s the past and VERY old news. We made amends and ended that negative energy a LONG time ago.”

Back in 2017, Martinez said that she and Batista got into a “fight” backstage and that is what led to her getting released from WWE. Martinez was working on the ECW brand as Ariel at the time. Her last appearance for the company was in 2006.
Martinez said the following back in 2017:
“The time has definitely come and one of the signs that I know that wrestling is done for me is a couple. I’ve been having a real hard time these last couple of months and ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ has been promoted and now is out. For those of you that know that me and Dave Bautista got in a fight backstage, that’s how I got fired – so it’s been interesting for me to drive around town and I see Dave Bautista’s face everywhere.”
Martinez continued:
She added, “there’s a lot of healing that I did through all of that but I was finding myself getting depressed. I would wonder why am I depressed and I would backtrack my day and a lot of times it was triggered by Bautista.”
