Popular actor Will Smith is married to his wife Jada Pinkett Smith for a long time now. The couple has shared secrets of their relationship, even discussing the Red Table Talk hostess’s affair with her son’s best friend. There has been speculation about the nature of their relationship, with some interpreting their comments as suggesting an open marriage.
A topic that the couple has not responded to or addressed is the allegation that the I Am Legend actor is gay and has been involved with other men, as claimed by various co-stars and celebrities. One celebrity who made such a claim was the late actress Alexis Arquette.
Among the various claims about Will Smith‘s sexual orientation, the most prominent is the one made by Alexis Arquette. Arquette was a transgender activist who voiced her opinions on matters of inclusivity. The Wedding Singer actress alleged that the King Richard actor was found in bed with Benny Medina by his ex-wife, Sheree Zampino.
It is noted that Benny Medina was a talent manager who worked with celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez and Mariah Carey. Will Smith’s popular television show, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, was loosely based on Medina’s story.
Arquette further claimed that Jada Smith is also gay, suggesting that both of them should openly come out as gay. In a now-deleted Facebook post, Arquette wrote via Page Six:
“When Jada comes out as gay and her beard husband admits his first marriage ended when she walked in to him … servicing his Sugar Daddy Benny Medina … then I will listen to them.”
Arquette’s comments were in response to Jada Pinkett Smith’s decision not to attend the 2016 Oscars after no black actor made it to the nominee list for the Best Actor category.
Arquette also took issue with the Pursuit of Happyness actor’s hesitance to kiss Anthony Rapp on the set of Six Degrees of Separation. The Blended actress called on Smith to take a definitive stance either in support of or against the gay community.
