Finn Balor was able to defend his NXT Championship against Kyle O’Reilly at NXT TakeOver 31. However, he suffered a fractured jaw during the match, owing to which was match ended earlier than planned.
It was earlier reported that Balor’s injury was not as bad as it seemed, but it was serious enough for him to undergo surgery. The NXT Champion took to Instagram and uploaded a post, where he revealed underwent surgery last Friday.
Last Friday, i underwent surgery for 2 fractures of my jaw, including one going into my tooth.
After the tooth was removed, I was wired shut to restore my bite and help align the fractures. Then 3 plates where screwed in to fixate the fractures for a quick recovery.
Thankfully no wires were needed after surgery!
We hope Balor will be able to return sooner rather than later as there is no timetable for his return as of yet.
