Jamie Sheldon, who is a cutman in UFC recently spoke with the YouTube channel, ‘Fred Talks Fighting’ about how horrific seeing Billie’s eye was.
As transcribed by Wrestling-Edge, Jamie stated: “Ben was speaking to Billie like ‘we’re gonna pull ya,’ Billie’s reacting like anyone would. Billie’s a proud man. I think looking bad he’s glad they did because he was potentially going to get blinded with that injury.”
He continues: “So, while Ben is obviously speaking to Billie, I’m covering the eye. They didn’t really know the extent of the injury at this point. Then, Mark says to him ‘Billie you got to show me something,’ and he’s still not seeing the body language which it wasn’t great. At this point, and I can’t remember if it was Billie or Matt, but I took my hand off the eye and Billie said ‘I can’t see.'”
He finishes: “Once those words were said…Everyone kind of picked up on that a little bit. Everybody kind of went around each other. No one actually said ‘What should we do?’ It was just ‘Pull him pull him.’ I pulled him.”
